Day 25/365

Today we went to the gun range. Was very intimidating but fun. I have never used this gun and really thought I never would. It has become my favorite. I have a new respect for guns, my husband and his job.

Day 21/365

I forgot to tell most people over the Holidays Lauren had the chance to meet her Grandparents that she had not seen since she was about 1 maybe(?). We surprised her and they came to the door knocked and I told her to go answer. She was so excited she nearly knocked them over. This was a very special event for her. I was so excited to have this happen. We all hung out over the weekend and at one point I asked Lauren if it was awkward at all. She said "no, it is like we have never missed a day"

Day 20/365

Today we got to finally go outside to play! Yay! Nick used his Rollerblades which drive me absolutely insane!
*Notice his pants? He first was wearing pirate pants,a pirate shirt (old costume) and cowboy boots. Then he changed to a baseball shirt. I love the innocence he has and that he has no idea what he really looks like. He asked me if he looked cute and I just smiled and told him he looks adorable.

Day 19/365

Have I told you how much I love these kids?

Day 18/365

What is a Hero? A Hero is not a Model,Actress or Action Figure. It is not a Barbie,Rock Star or Cartoon Character. I have tried to teach our kids that a Hero is a real person. In my eyes a Hero is someone who saves a life, goes above and beyond a "normal" act. It could be a teacher, a mom, dad, police, fireman or just an everyday normal person. So tonight my picture of the day is.....

A Hero. Not one person asked my 16 year old child to give blood. She did this because she saw a post on my Facebook page that one of my friends needed blood for her 5 year old daughter. She felt that she needed to do this and she went without hesitation. She is very proud that she has done this for a little girl who she has never met. She tells people about this beautifully strong little girl as if she knows her. This in my eyes...Is A Hero!

If you would like to donate or know someone who will I do have her
Donor Code. (L952FS00)

It warms my heart more than anything in this world that I have such giving children.
OK PART 2 of Nick going to school with a struggle....

Yesterday was hectic and I had a neighbor take him in hopes he wouldn't put up a struggle. It kinda worked in the fact he didn't vomit in the car (thank you Jesus!)He made it thru the day and came home happy like always.

I was given some advice from a GREAT mommy friend who has a friend who went thru the same thing. A book called "Freeing your Child from Anxiety" which I did get and "Overcoming School Anxiety". I came home last night and power read the first few chapters of both books. I am really bad about doing this but what I found so far is working.

This morning he had a "sore throat" and I kept changing the subject and would say I love how excited you are when you come home, I miss you during the day but you have so much fun learning at school and at the end of the day you can teach us what you learn and when you get home today we are having a painting project. I also started our chore chart again that has very simple chores along with not crying. At the end of the week if you have collected all the stars they get to pick something from the goodie bag. That seems to work very well in the past.

I am trying not to bribe or make a big deal of this to him. I will continue to give positive thoughts and encouragement. I was also telling Nick this morning lets take a deep breath. It is not worth getting all worked up because I have noticed he starts breathing very heavy which causes him to cough and gag.

In case you are wondering.... Yes there really is something called School Anxiety and kids do suffer from it. It can be way worse than Nick is acting but I don't want it to get to that. I have also learned that it could have come down to this from a bully, learning disability, being pushed to do more that normally expected and some people just have bad anxiety or OCD and are trying to constantly please people such as a teacher. I am looking at all the options just to make sure it is none of these. I do know he aims to please and he likes to go at "his own pace". He is a very laid back calm child so when things around him seem to be "spinning out of control" he is bothered by that. ( He gets it from his dad:) )

So besides that not much else is going on around here..... Natalie has decided to play softball again. That makes me happy! Lauren is starting baseball season for her 2nd year as a Diamond Doll and Ashlynn is growing more and more everyday.

Life is great and I have no complaints. I love having a big family with lots of love. I love our communication we have and the fun times we share.

Day 17/365

For Christmas I bought the girls both a pair of TOMS. They both wanted the glitter TOMS and as I was ordering them I realized TOMS is One for One. Once you buy a pair a child in another country gets a pair. They don't get the fancy cute glittery ones I buy but they get ones that go with the rugged terrain they live in. So I was happy to buy them.
Today I received this in the mail letting me know one pair has been delivered.I know it is not handwritten to me but it still makes me happy I can help someone out.

Day 16/365

For the first time ever I made egg noodles....mmmmmmm yum!
Day 15/365
My little sunshine....

Looks like a rat went into the fridge and took an orange!
I decided to video tape Nick this morning.
Every morning it is a total fight and struggle to get him to school. He cries, begs, pleads and then says his tummy hurts and then throws up. This is a everyday thing and it is getting worse. I am at the end of my rope and I don't know what to do. If I take him out of school then I am feeding in to this. If I make him go I feel like it is hurting him. I am asking myself everyday what do I do?
I have recently talked to his pedi about it and she wants him to see a Specialist...sounds easy right? This is overwhelming! I have called a handful of people within 25 miles of us and they are either booked until April, can't take a child of this age or don't speak fluent English. What am I supposed to do? He obviously has some kind of anxiety problem. Thinking back he would cry if I left him. He would cry while we were in church so he sat quietly thru service with us. We eventually stopped going to church because of this.
So I am going to begin to document this issue in hopes that one of you read this and say "WOW we went thru that and here is what we did".

After watching this video you may say oh he is just crying you need to get over it. Well this was just the beginning of it. I wasn't able to tape the rest of the morning but I will next time.

Day 14/365

I think it is very rare to get these two in a picture together...
I wish she had on a different shirt and his hair was brushed. Owe well when we are camping this is just how we go. I love them both so much and they are growing like little weeds.
Day 13/365

This past weekend we went camping to one of our favorite places. Brazos Bend State park. We love this place and no matter how many times we go it is always so much fun.
We had been riding bikes about an hour when Nat sat down to watch this gator. Well she started messing with her phone and a man yelled to get up.

He was inching over closer to her when I got this picture. I was about 6ft from him.

Day 12/365

Mr. Crabbs is looking good!
Day 11/365

Tuesday this week Nick decided he HAD to have these boots. Lauren took him to Academy to get them and OF COURSE they were completely out of them. They were on sale for $9.00 and we had no idea! Well he had the biggest meltdown and I decided to find them. 5 stores later I found them!
We have one happy BOY!

Day 8/365
Well I did not have my camera tonight...wish I had and even thought about it. A few weeks ago I won a contest on Facebook. My prize was a dinner for 4 at a new place called Jimmy Changas. This was a practice night for the staff so I was a little nervous.
Let me just say I LOVE IT! So did Terry.

This is the playground.....LOVE IT!

So if you have a chance stop by Jimmy Changas.

Day 6/356

This is what happens when a 2 year old gets in the pantry.

ok So this 365 thing is a little difficult. Starting tomorrow I will have better pictures but I have been way crazy busy!
So after 5 months of phone problems with 4 different phones I finally have a phone that I love!
It is awesome! T mobile G2

I am a little bit random today....

As I sit here in the parking lot of Monument Chevrolet I have a few things to say.
1.Ashlynn is 28 pounds! If you have been following this blog you know that is GREAT!
2. I found the most AMAZING photographer for Lauren's Senior Pictures and I could not be more excited than I am now. Homeshade Photography
3. We are now headed to Lowe's to look at gardening stuff.

Day 5/365

I love these little girls! They make me so happy and are so full of energy and giggles. 3 Best Friends!
Day 4/356

Great prank! This is a house in our neighborhood. What you can't see is the handmade sigh that says RILEY'S TREE LOT. I think they had about 20-25 trees and even had them against the front door.

Day 3/365

OK so I promise to get some more exciting pictures going but as you can tell I have my hands full today. Nick has Pneumonia and will be home for the next week. I was only able to take this picture today.
This Christmas I was given a book from a friend. After reading it (in a day) it inspired me to try something. Something that I have always wanted to do but just needed a push or maybe a shove. I have always wanted a "simple life" but need the convenience of the city...not so much the Big city but my little city. I absolutely have no desire ever in my life to live in a Big city or Downtown. I would rather live with a few acres running thru fields never caring what I wear or look like. Just a simple life taking care of kids, sewing, baking and living a healthy clean life.
In this book Called Made from Scratch it talks about having a container garden and how simple and rewarding it is. Well guess what...WE as in the kids and I (even the kids I keep)are starting our container garden. Our goal is to start small and by next year have it bigger. We are only going to plant things we will eat and enjoy. I am so excited about this.
In the past we have started tomato plants and each kid takes it home. Well this time we are hoping they can take food home with them. I think this will teach the so much! Our containers are built and we are planning our garden now. I just need to make my mind up on the permanent placement of the garden. We can move it once the season is over but I am really trying to avoid that.
You all know I will keep you updated about this so don't worry!

The actual name of the book is
Made from Scratch. Discovering the Pleasures of a Handmade Life
By Janna Woginrich

Try it, it is simple and cute.

Day 2/365

Nick has been sick since December 12ish...his cough has just become worse and after antibiotics his Dr. decided he needs a chest X-ray and blood work. He was a very brave boy today!

Sunday, January 2, 2011

This picture is not part of the 365 but I wanted to add Mr. Crabbs. He is starting to bloom and I am so excited! I bought him last year from the "about to be thrown out" section for a dollar. He is healthy and about to bloom.
Well here I go....today I am starting my 365 project. I will be taking and posting a picture everyday. Get ready because you never know what I will be posting. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

Day 1/365

This is the start of our Garden. Ashlynn decided to turn one of the boxes into her boat.
